More photos from the Barn Owl Centre in Gloucester, this time a Buzzard – a quicker moving bird and the first one on the day so was quite an eye opener attempting to get this one framed nice, I think these have achieved that though.

Recently got invited to a Bird of Prey photo afternoon, spent a fantastic 5 odd hours shooting these fantastic birds, this is just one of many that I will post here, an eagle owl called Khan.

This was taken in Paradise Park, again in Cornwall 2011. This was behind thin mesh this was eliminated by propping the camera hood directly against the mesh which pleasingly made it vanish.

Macro Work

So another macro shot today, this one taken in Cornwall 2011 (again) not 100% sure on this, I can’t make my mind up on the plant being all over the right, however initial thought is that it takes an otherwise uninteresting shot and makes it something different, let me know what yer think.

The shine on the plant and the rain made this what I think is a nice shot.

Fishing boats in Cadgwith Cove (Cornwall 2011) really lend themselves to black and white conversions, this has been slightly cropped to remove a tractor that had inconsiderately parked in a way modernising a image that seems timeless.

Too dark, not enough “grain” ? let me know what you think in the comments.

National Seal Centre – Gweek

Whilst on holiday in Cornwall a trip to the National Seal Centre in Gweek is an essential visit for ANY keen amateur wildlife photographer, the staff are brilliant, very accommodating and have an amazing knowledge of the animals they care for. this post will contain my favourite images from the centre. Understanding Macro & Lightroom

I’m still very new to both macro photography & Adobe Lightroom on the Mac, I’ve used just auto tone on this one (being colour blind it’s great to have a button that Auto-Tones – this helps me learn what the toning “should” look like, this is helping me understand selections for the one’s to come which aren’t auto toned).

Just love wildlife photography, although it’s also a very frustrating genre I’m finding it massively rewarding. This otter was taken in Hayle in Cornwall 2011, using this as my wallpaper, and I’m exceedingly happy with the results.
